ELI CROWNE is a narcoleptic, walks and talks in his sleep, and has had difficulties dealing with a wakeful world. He struggles keeping a job as an elementary school teacher.

Eli has arrived in town to take care of his father's estate while he lies in hospice, in a coma from which he isn't expected to awaken.

From the moment he enters Wake Forest, his dreams are haunted by bizarre twisted visions that may answer questions about several unsolved local murders. If Eli can't unlock these subconscious puzzles to rescue the souls trapped in the Land of Nod, then the FEARSOME ENTITY must!
