Aquaman (4th Series)

    (DC, 1991-1992)
™ and ©1991 DC Comics, Inc.

Aquaman was raised by dolphins, having been abandoned as a child because of his blond hair, which the Atlanteans considered a sign of evil. In time, he became acquainted with land-based humans and joined the Justice League of America. He can communicate with marine mammals and has strength and swimming speed far beyond that of ordinary humans, though he’s not nearly as powerful as many of his Justice League colleagues.

After an on-and-off run in the 1960s and 1970s and two mini-series in the 1980s, DC’s marine super-hero returns with a new origin, but is still burdened with sorrows: a son who was murdered, a wife who abandoned him, and a half-brother who has become his greatest enemy. As this series begins, Aquaman, abandoned, rejected, and powerless at preserving his family, has become a solitary super-hero, aiding land and marine creatures alike, while refusing any comfort they try to give him.
