Bugs Bunny’s Vacation Funnies

    (Dell, 1951-1959)
™ and ©1954 Warner Bros.

Imagine the thrill of an eight-year-old kid in 1955 plunking down a hard-earned quarter and coming home with a super-sized 100-page comic book jammed full of great, fun-filled stories of Bugs Bunny and his pals. Dell Giants were certainly one of the best comic bargains ever offered, featuring page after page of consistently excellent children’s entertainment, often beautifully drawn, plus games, mazes, text stories, and puzzles, all wrapped in heavy stock, painted covers. The four-color exploits of Bugs, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, and the rest of the gang were only a notch below Dell’s Disney titles in storytelling quality and wacky humor. Nearly half a century later, these stories still stand as minor classics.
