The Dandy Comic

This humor title from England has been published since the 1930s. It numbers into the thousands by virtue of its weekly schedule. The short gag strips, (the longest are no more than three pages and most are a single page), rely on unsophisticated, painfully obvious jokes aimed at young children. Reoccurring characters are Desperate Dan, an American cowboy type filtered through a British sensibility, and Blinky, a rather goofy character with extremely large glasses whose poor eyesight is the source of his comedic misadventures, á la Mr. Magoo.
