The Return of Tarzan (Edgar Rice Burroughs’…)

A frightened child runs into his village sounding an alarm about a white man. During the African slave trade years, this is a call to arms. Amazingly, this “white man” is treated as a long-time family member and not as an enemy. When children begin asking questions about the stranger, it’s an ideal situation for telling stories. The children quickly learn that the waziri is none other than Tarzan. One imagines the children leaning closer to the storyteller as she recalls Tarzan’s adventures. As day becomes night, she speaks about Tarzan’s battles with monsters, holding a child’s attention merely on the breath of her words. Shadows of campfire flames are dancing across her face when speaking about Tarzan’s great love, Jane Porter. Close your eyes and see the Lord of Apes adventures unfold along the lines of Tales of Brave Ulysses.
