Alter Ego

Rob Lindsay felt he was on top of the world when a new comic book dealer loaned him a stack of Golden Age comic books to read at his leisure. Strangely, although Rob had thought he knew everything there was to know about comic books, he was surprised to discover a new hero among the titles he had been loaned: Alter Ego.

That night, Rob watched in horror as Golden Age comic hero-come-to-life, Captain Combat, fought to the death against three villains. Captain Combat’s last words advised Rob to “put on the mask” in order to defend his own world. For his part, Rob had no idea what Captain Combat was talking about—until Rob opened his Alter Ego comic book and a mask fell out. He donned the mask and found himself transformed into the hero, Alter Ego. What follows is a nostalgia-tinged struggle of good over evil.
