This book reprints the newspaper strips that gave the world its first glimpse at Wolff & Byrd, Counselors of the Macabre. This pair that would eventually become known the legal counsel of choice for monsters everywhere. Creator Batton Lash first published these strips in The National Law Journal, American Fantasy Magazine, and The Brooklyn Paper beginning in 1986.

Alanna Wolff and her hardworking partner, J. Sutton Byrd, make their living helping otherworldly creatures, and even the undead find the way out of the their inevitable legal troubles. In the book’s first adventure, “Nine Points of the Law” they take up a case wherein a father is charged with failing to control his demonically possessed child. But while the demon might have been tough enough to handle a squad of crucifix-wielding exorcists, it heads for the hills when confronted with the torture that awaited it, if it proceeded into the jaws of the American legal system.
