In 1898, science-fiction legend H.G. Wells published The War of the Worlds, the classic novel of Martians invading the Earth. In 1938, Orson Wells started a veritable panic when he broadcast his infamous radio adaptation of the novel, using fake “news reports” of the alien invaders.

The science-fiction classic makes its way to the comics with this 1990 series from Eternity, an imprint of Malibu Comics. Here the simple theme of alien invaders threatening the Earth is given a bit more breadth. In this version, the aliens (“Aarach”) actually work undercover and interbreed with humans as part of a more secretive plan to wipe out humanity.
