Emily Cayce, Allis Krafe, Craig Fallow, and Dirk Penderwhistle are four youthful individuals who were blessed with powers over the four basic elements. In this case, the traditional elements of earth, air, fire, and water, are interpreted rather liberally. Emily controls the “fluid forces that reside within crystals;” Allis can harness emotional and, more interestingly, sexual energy; Craig can change his shape into a creature whose form is based on the surrounding terrain; and Dirk can control the workings of electronic and mechanical systems.

The series by Stefan Petrucha (X-Files) and Ian Gibson chronicles their adventures as they learn how to control their powers in a crazy world where it seems everybody wants to control them. This concept would be revisited in later years in such titles as Gen13.
