Earth X

In the near future, an experiment performed by Reed Richards will go horribly wrong. Richards manipulates an unstable substance called “Vibranium” and accidentally created a virus. This virus now infects nearly all of humanity (Except Tony Stark, who is now a recluse: the likes of Howard Hughes). This virus gives super powers to the entire populace of Earth X.

Old heroes are twisted, new heroes have only the barest resemblance to their former name-sakes, sort of a Marvel version of Kingdom Come. This is a world created by Alex Ross (Superman: Peace on Earth, Astro City). Though Earth X is a fully painted story by Ross, the first glimpse of this strange world was seen in a small comic insert to Wizard magazine. It merely contained the basic premise and some of Alex’s concept sketches. These were later reprinted in a special edition to this series with a more complete set of sketches.
