This 100-page series from “the Usual Gang of Idiots” offers up some classic Mad bits, from “Spy Vs. Spy” to the brilliant Don Martin’s single page gags, e.g. “One Fine Morning in a Playpen,” “One Fine Day Crosstown.” Writer/artist Dave Berg’s “The Lighter Side of…” series is also represented here, as are Sergio Aragonés’ margin doodles. Mad XL also looks at the life of E.C. mastermind William M. Gaines. This is an excellent collection for longtime Mad readers, as well as those wishing to dip a foot in the pool.
