Desso-Lette is set in a post-war Earth wherein advances in genetics have given new cities with the technology an upper hand in economics and power over older cities that don’t have it. Consequently, earlier civilizations became unwanted and obsolete, their remains stretched across a wasteland called the Barren. The title of the series is named after the protagonist, a mysterious woman who collects antiquities that have now become sought-after items in high-tech societies. Desso-Lette decides to leave the Barren and live in the one of the new cities, and then discovers that life isn’t better there at all.
