After nearly a decade in hiatus, 1994 saw the return of Jim Starlin’s Dreadstar. To be fair, it’s not Vanth Dreadstar, the peaceful man who raised a rebellion against the oppressive dictatorship of the galactic Papacy. This series from Malibu’s Bravura line begins twenty years after the end of the old Dreadstar title and stars Kalla Dreadstar, Vanth’s daughter.
Featuring writing by Peter David (Incredible Hulk) and art by comics great Ernie Colón, this new title places Kalla squarely against the invading might of the Papacy. Theirs is the power to destroy whole worlds, while she is armed only with her father’s sword. If she and her people are to have any hope, she’ll have to find Vanth, the father who left her so long ago. Fans of the old Dreadstar series will be glad to know that as Kalla begins her struggle, the old characters from the former series will be making their reappearance.
