Santa the Barbarian

This grim version of the classic Christmas figure had his first appearance on a trading card in Wizard magazine, and apparently was popular enough to get a shot at his own comic.

In short, times are changing, and the list of bad boys and girls far outnumbers the nice kids. People are so out of control that the jolly old elf decides to start kicking some serious naughty butt. Forget the lump of coal: Santa’s now armed with a sword and a double-bladed battle-axe.

St. Nick’s new attitude doesn’t necessarily go over so well at the North Pole. Santa’s little toymakers think they can use their mechanical inventions to put a stop to his new reign of terror. They forgot one little thing: Santa knows when they’re sleeping, he knows when they’ve been good or bad, and he knows exactly when it’s time to get medieval on those rebellious elves!
