DC/Marvel: All Access

Axel Asher has a tough job. During the Marvel Versus DC/DC Versus Marvel series, he learned that he has the ability to act as a bridge between the two universes. In his role as Access, he’s sort of a cosmic hall monitor, charged with keeping the two universes separate, lest they merge and form one like the Amalgam universe that occurred midway through that series.

Axel’s powers derive from his nature as a “shard” of two cosmic entities who define the Marvel and DC universes. There are other shards in existence, but most are unaware of their true identity, or their role. Axel, however, is aware of his role, and takes it very seriously indeed. In the first issue of this four-issue mini-series, he is tasked with setting things right when Marvel’s Venom appears in DC’s city of Metropolis, and comes to blows with Superman. Bringing Venom back where he belongs means putting himself in the line of fire, with no super-powers to protect him.
