Ross Bagdasarian was a struggling composer and musician who produced a number of straight and novelty records for Liberty Records. During one of his more inspired moments, Ross messed around with the speeds of his tape recorder and came up with a hit record based on these experiments called “The Witch Doctor.” After its success, Ross thought if one sped up voice would be a hit, what would happen if he did three sped up voices? The rest is history.
