The Mark (1st Series)
(Dark Horse, 1987-1989)

In the time of the Third Reich, the ruler of a small country named Lutzany became enamored of the ideas of Adolf Hitler—especially those regarding the creation of a “master race.” Using the same ruthlessness that marked Hitler’s concentration camps, Lutzany’s ruler began genetic experiments of his own. He even went so far as to experiment on his own pregnant wife.
Years later, Lutzany survives under the tyrannical rule of the Archon, son of the original ruler, and a product of genetic engineering. The Archon rules with an iron hand, using soldiers and the media to squelch any opposition. But in the midst of this oppression, a masked man known only as “the Mark” has arisen to give hope to the people. Fittingly, this hero is himself a product of the same grisly experiments that gave birth to the Archon. But while the Archon used his special gifts to enslave, his counterpart will use his powers to fight for freedom.
