Forbidden Zone is a slick paper science-fiction/fantasy magazine à la Heavy Metal, featuring stories by such renowned artists as Richard Corben, (a veteran underground comic artist whose work appeared regulary in Heavy Metal), and Simon Bisley, (Lobo).

The magazine’s art director, Arthur Suydam, another veteran of Heavy Metal, (as well as The New Adventures of Cholly and Flytrap), writes most of the stories. Even though the thrust of the magazine is science fiction, there are ample instances of very healthy women in various stages of undress. Each story is prefaced by the slickly rendered and disturbing drawings of Daniel Ouellette. His images of emaciated and abused women are in direct contrast to the type of figures normally found in the stories.
