The Writers’ Bloc Anthology
(Writers’ Bloc, 2002)
™ and © respective creators
Raw talent is the best way to describe The Writers’ Bloc Anthology. It’s made up of six short stories in varying genres (science fiction, action/adventure, social commentary and humor). The black and white title, which actually started as a give away, was created to showcase the talents of 13 up and coming writers and artists who had difficulty breaking into the world of comics on their own. Pooling their talents, the group managed to assemble an anthology of well-crafted stories and finely tuned art—something tangible to put in front of editors.
Living up to its mission statement of “enhancing each member’s goal of seeing their creative vision produced in a comic book,” The Writers’ Bloc Anthology provides an eclectic mix of good and not-so good stories. Taking each with a grain of salt, readers are sure to find a number of stories and creators that suit their tastes. While the names may sound unfamiliar, rest assured that once the industry catches on to this vital resource, they will soon become common knowledge.
