Series continued from Tarzan (Dell) #131, continues in Tarzan (DC) #207

This famous jungle hero was born the son of John Clayton, Lord Greystoke. Greystoke set out with his wife in 1888 to the British West Africa Colonies. They got as far as Freetown when their crew mutinied and set them ashore in the wilderness. Jack Clayton was born there, and the family survived for almost a year until an ape killed Lord Greystoke and stole his child. The ape raised Jack as his own, and he grew as strong as the apes, but with the cunning of a man. Called Tarzan (“white skin”) he eventually became ruler of the jungle.

Tarzan is the both the king of the jungle and the king of the jungle comics, with adventures running under various companies for almost forty years. The Gold Key run of Tarzan picked up from Tarzan (Dell) with issue #132 in 1962 and continued through issue #206 in 1972. Afterward, the title was transferred to DC and picked up with Tarzan (DC) #207 in April of 1972.
