Creator Doug Miers argues that all written works are “a thing of beauty because they are expressions of the human spirit,” and that “every comic is a good comic.” A convincing argument, with one flaw: this is not a good comic. Para Troop is a hodgepodge of a story that jumps from one random event to other random, nonlinear events, making little to no sense. The characterizations are nonexistent. If you could not visually distinguish the few characters from one another, it would seem that the story had three times as many people.

Even visual distinction is difficult since the lead character, Jane Isben, is at times a black woman, but appears Asian or Italian in later panels. There is a semblance of a sci-fi storyline about government conspiracies and alien visitors, but the ludicrous, convoluted narrative never manages to form into anything coherent.
