Miracle Squad

    (Upshot, 1986)
™ and ©1986 John Wooley and Terry Tidwell

This four-part series celebrates 1930s Hollywood, when any soda jerk could be a matinee idol, and starlets were discovered at drugstores. The story starts like a Hollywood gossip sheet, as small-town girl Sandra Castle goes to Tinseltown to find her lost sister. She’s swept into a silver-screen life of romance, danger, and adventure after she visits Miracle Studios, a small B-movie studio producing serial shorts and monster movies. When approached by gangsters wanting to buy into the studio, the owner, Felix Barron, refuses and is gunned down by the ruthless goons.

Acting on his father’s last words, Barron’s son Mark forms the Miracle Squad, a crimefighting group composed of studio stunt men and detectives. Sandra, seeking help in her search for her sister, joins the group and is drawn deeper and deeper into an emotional and thrilling story of espionage and intrigue.
