Jughead’s Double Digest

An ongoing collection of the best of the Jughead stories from the various Archie comics, this series follows the eternal teens of Riverdale in their consistently safe stories. The years move on, technology and culture changes, but Jughead Jones and his friends maintain the same wholesome stereotypical slice of Americana that has kept them readable since 1941 and their introduction in MLJ’s Pep #22.

The original Archie’s Pal Jughead ran from 1949 to 1965. In 1965, the title changed to just plain Jughead. This particular digest collection has been going strong since 1989 and is being put out nine times a year.

Various other Archie titles have featured the skinny, hamburger craving teen over the decades, but despite updates in clothing and cars, Jughead still wears his trademark gray cap and would rather chow down at a buffet than take a beautiful girl out for a drive.

The appeal of Jughead and his friends has been toward readers of all ages. Parents remember seeing and reading an Archie comic when they were younger and have no problem with their own children continuing the tradition.
