Robin Hood (Eternity)

    (Eternity, 1989)
™ and © 1989 Martin Powell, Stan Timmons

This black-and-white title from Eternity Comics, writer Martin Powell (Scarlet in Gaslight), and artist Stan Timmons (Big Bang Comics) explores the legend of the hero of the Middle English ballads. Here, Robin Hood’s origin as an outlaw in Sherwood Forest is explored. His skills as a leader are developed as he gathers his band of Merry Men to oppose Prince John and his lackey the Sheriff of Nottingham at the time of Richard the Lionhearted’s absence from England during the Crusades. Powell ably captures the spirit of Robin Hood’s adventures, and Timmons’s artwork is nothing short of gorgeous.
