X-Men Firsts

The continued popularity of the X-Men and the characters surrounding them prompted Marvel to publish X-Men Firsts. This title reprints key stories including the first appearances of Wolverine, Gambit, Rogue and Mr. Sinister.

The stories vary widely in art and style since they come from a myriad of sources. For example, Wolverine’s first extended appearance, excluding his cameo in the previous issue, was in The Incredible Hulk #181 in 1974 by Len Wein and Herb Trimpe. Rogue was a villain in The Avengers Annual #10 in 1981 by Chris Claremont and Michael Golden.

Unless you have the resources to find and buy the original issues in which these stories appeared, this collection is a fine alternative.
