Golden Age Classics: The Black Owl
(PS Artbooks, 2026)
(From the publisher)
Doug Danville was a wealthy New York playboy who decided to fight crime. He put on a costume and began his career as K the Unknown. He later changed his costume and became the BLACK OWL! Doug got involved with Terry Dane, a private investigator and true to comic-book tradition, she greatly admired the Black Owl and belittled Doug Danville for being useless. Never-the-less he continued fighting criminals as the BLACK OWL - until he enlisted in the Army and handed down his costume to Walt Walters, the father of Yank and Doodle (more of this later). With a whole host of enemies including Chief Skullface, the Fox, Frankenstein, Funnibone, the Green Mummy, the Tiger Lady, the Laughing Head and the Terrible Midge, among others – the BLACK OWL had plenty to keep him busy and probably had to do overtime during the day time hours!
