Gordon Yamamoto and the King of the Geeks

Gordon Yamamoto and his friend Devon delighted each year in picking one kid to terrorize in school. They would appoint their victim “king of the geeks” and rough him up, lob “not-water balloons” at him, and generally make his life miserable.

Gordon was about to learn a hard lesson this year. He’s been having strange dreams involving foreign objects in his nose. In time, he discovered that Cuticle-3, a microdroid of the San Peligran Order of galactic peacekeepers was using his brain as excess data storage. The San Peligran Order looks for individuals who either have superior brain capacity, or don’t use much of what they have. Gordon (who fell into the latter category) had to make contact with the other local San Peligran Order victim, who as it turned out, was the very geek he had been victimizing. All in all, it’s a strange, but worthy story by Gene Yang.
