Writer Jay Faerber’s (Titans) Noble Causes: First Impressions introduced the Nobles, a famous super-hero family whose antics and adventures are the stuff of tabloid television. Their story is continued from the four-issue Noble Causes limited series and in its four-issue follow-up, Noble Causes: Family Secrets.

More soap opera than traditional super-hero opus, this third limited series—in glorious black and white—picks up just after the events in the second and focuses on Liz, the speedster Race Noble’s widow and a normal woman who has remained close to the Noble family; Frost, Gaia Noble’s illegitimate son; Rusty, Doc and Gaia Noble’s eldest son, whose brain has been transplanted into a robot body; and Krennick, the son of the Nobles’ greatest enemy who is in love with Zephyr, the youngest of the Noble children. The illicit love affairs and double-crosses that plague the Noble family continue in Distant Relatives, and makes for an interesting spin on the super-hero genre.
