Boy Loves Girl
(Lev Gleason, 1952-1956)
™ and ©1954 Lev Gleason Publications, Inc.
Shakespeare wrote “The course of true love never did run smooth.” So was it also in an entire genre of romance comics, which peaked in the 1950s.
With a title as basic as Boy Loves Girl, this comic from the Lev Gleason company left little doubt about the theme. One presumes that Boy Loses Girl, and Boy Gets Girl Back, might have made suitable companion titles, except those things usually happened in this book. Although the rudimentary plots always concluded with a happily-ever-after scenario, and lacked any subtlety, this title delivered solid stories with a beginning, middle, and end…and often three or four times in a single issue.
— George Haberberger
