In 540 A.D., King Arthur and his legendary Knights of the Round Table are dead. Three years before, Arthur’s wife Guinevere pulled the fabled sword Excalibur from his bastard son Mordred’s corpse in the aftermath of the battle where Arthur had been slain. Called to lead Britain back to its past glories, Guinevere embraces the title Pendragon by right of possession of Excalibur. Challenged by the alliance between Constantine, Arthur’s cousin and chosen successor to the throne of High King, and Saxon Lord Cheldric’s looming invasion from across the sea, the adventure of Lady Pendragon begins. The legend continues when Jennifer Drake pulls Excalibur from stone and magic returns to present-day Earth. In the aftermath of this prophetic event, all electrical mechanisms have ceased functioning—an ominous precursor of things to come. Nonetheless, this intriguing blend of the Arthurian legend and religion contains references that some readers may deem heretical.
