Not to be confused with the character guide published by Marvel in the 80s, this comic takes its cue from the 2004 toy line of the same name. An excuse to sell redecorated toys from previous Transformers lines, the back story for the Transformers Universe toys explains that the villain Unicron has gathered Decepticons from across time and space to do his bidding. In response, Optimus Primal, who fought in the Beast Wars, leads an army of Autobots from various eras and settings. Hardcore fans who attended the Official Transformers Collectors Convention (where the book was distributed) may get a kick out of seeing characters from different storylines fighting side by side.
