Stacy Palumbo figured prominently in the original story Grendel…of Hunter Rose, the devil incarnate. This two-issue limited series from Diana Schulz, Tim Sale, and Teddy Kristiansen explores the mind of Stacy Palumbo, a woman who has been continually victimized by men and falsely comforted by women. Her rape by her psychiatrist resulted in a pregnancy and, ultimately, her daughter Christine—who later became Grendel—allows the devil to live again. What sort of toll does that take on a woman’s life? This is harsh, but well done; it’s definitely for mature readers.
