This title is one in a series of comprehensive indexes to DC Comics. The series presents a color reproduction of each comic’s cover, a complete listing of all the characters who appeared in each story, a summary of what happened in each adventure, and various other information.

The Hawkman Index chronicles the appearances of the Katar Hol Hawkman and his partner Shayera Thal (Hawkgirl), who travel to Earth from the planet Thanagar in pursuit of the villain Byth Rok.

All the comics indexed appear in serial order, beginning with the earliest issues that feature a given hero. Thus, the Hawkman Index begins with his first appearances in Brave And The Bold and Mystery In Space, before continuing with the 1964 Hawkman series.

The first issue also contains an essay discussing the various incarnations of Hawkman, his creators, and the supporting cast.
