Indiana Jones and the Shrine of the Sea Devil

There have been several attempts to make the wildly successful Indiana Jones cinema franchise into a comic book hit, with this one-shot as the latest effort. And it makes sense, since there would seem to be a limitless supply of world treasures and mysteries for the daring explorer to dig up. Here it’s 1935, or shortly before the original movie, and Indy leaves dry land behind to search for clues to a lost civilization, and an underwater treasure believed to be guarded by a sea monster. Naturally, few rational men believe in the legends, and after deciphering instructions on an ancient map he’s lowering himself into the depths of the ocean. What he finds might be a mysterious connection to the statues on Easter Island…but the prize is, indeed, protected—by something. What’s more, the vessel that has brought him to the spot has some concerns of its own, including an evil and mutinous crew, one of whom has a history with Jones.

Written and drawn by Gary Gianni, this full-color Dark Horse comic proves there are plenty of Indiana Jones stories yet to be told.
