Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters in 3-D
(Eclipse, 1986)
™ and ©1986 Don Chin
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles became the surprise hit of the early 1980s. In the ensuing rush to beat the joke to death, all manner of martial arts were coupled with assorted animal quartets, everything from chameleons to elephants. One of the more significant and well–crafted attempts was Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters. The turtle’s names adhered to a Renaissance painter theme, but for his group, writer Don Chin went with action movie heroes. The hamsters became Clint, Bruce, Jackie, and Chuck.
This book features the 3D effects of the renowned Ray Zone, who was at the forefront of the resurgence of 3D comics in the 1980s. The wisecracking and satire are generally an acceptable tradeoff for dealing with the red–and–blue cardboard glasses.
