The Crisis on Infinite Earths was the single most far-reaching storyline in DC history. In twelve dense issues, it managed to kill several popular characters (including Barry Allen, the Flash; and Supergirl) as well as demolish the thousands of “alternate Earths” that had sprung up over the years. What remained was a DC universe unlike any before.
