Frankenstein (The Monster of…)

    (Marvel, 1973-1975)
™ and ©1972 Marvel Entertainment Group

As it did with Tomb of Dracula, Marvel made another hero out of a horror-movie staple—in this case, Frankenstein’s monster. As the series starts, Frankenstein’s monster has been encased in ice for nearly a century when the great-grandson of the last person to ever see the monster finds him and brings him aboard ship. The monster escapes when a fire on the ship melts his ice casing and walks among humanity again. As this series evolves, you find out that the monster sometimes has more kindness and compassion in him than do many humans.
