Green Lantern: Brightest Day, Blackest Night
(DC, 2002)
™ and ©2002 DC Comics
Written by Steven Seagle with painted artwork by John K. Snyder III, this prestige format one-shot chronicles the first encounter between Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern, and his archenemy, Solomon Grundy.
The story begins when a group of Nazi terrorists hijack a passenger plane carrying a top-secret military weapon. The plane is brought down deep in Slaughter Swamp, home of the destructive force of nature Solomon Grundy. Grundy, not happy with these trespassers, take out the intruders one by one.
Meanwhile, Alan Scott is sent by the JSA to investigate the downed aircraft. Unaware of the Nazi presence, Scott runs into Grundy and immediately assumes that he is to blame for the situation. Once Scott discovers the true threat, will even the power of his ring be enough save him from both the onslaught of the Nazi soldiers and the wrath of Solomon Grundy?
