John Koenig had just come on board Moonbase Alpha as its new commander. Not long afterward, strange surges of magnetic energy unleashed an explosion in the base’s nuclear disposal area. The force of the blast was beyond comprehension, shoving the moon itself out of Earth orbit and into a headlong journey across space.

Thus began Space: 1999, one of the 1970s’ most popular TV science-fiction shows. Charlton picked up the series with this 1975 title, creating all new adventures for Commander Koenig, Dr. Helena Russell, and the rest of the 311 unfortunate inhabitants of the stranded moonbase.
