Morphs
(Graphxpress, 1987)
™ and © Graphxpress
Morphs is short for “anthropomorphic”—the art of making furry little animals into bipeds with near human speech patterns in art. Publisher Jim Groat had hopes that this series would attract readers to seeing new talent in the comic book field as well as highlighting more well-known artists. The stories could range from Science Fiction to Humorous and there were hopes that a few of them would be good enough to spin off into their own titles.
Sadly, Morphs only lasted four issues. It was a good effort and a black and white springboard for up and coming talent to show what they had without having to be locked into the super-hero treadmill.
