Spaztic Colon
(Angry Drunk Graphics)
™ and © 2003 Angry Drunk Graphics
Spaztic Colon is subtitled “A substandard comic for substandard people.” Artist Steven Vincent may be selling himself a little short. Although his art is a bit on the primitive side with no grasp of perspective or proportion, it is entirely appropriate for the strange absurdist stories he tells. Besides, when he began, he was only concerned about making enough money to buy some beer.
The feature includes a story about a sarcastic, fifteen–year–old girl named Jade, who is the lead character of this title. She has been on her own since her parents abandoned her, but she never feels sorry for herself. Indeed, her attitude is more one of outrage at authority figures and frustration with her friends. Jade’s acerbic comments instill the strip with comedic overtones rather than the drama her situation would warrant. Other strips feature Billy, who animates an amalgam of cow parts that he sewed together from the butcher shop, and “Why Vegetarians Hate Bob.”
