Black Cross: Dirty Work
(Dark Horse, 1997)
™ and © Dark Horse Comics, Inc.
Chris Warner’s violent antihero Conrad – he throws a man through a window for simply saying, “I don’t like your face” – is given the full-color treatment for the first time in Dirty Work. Originally serialized in 1990-91 in Dark Horse Insider, Dirty Work expands upon the original tale. Conrad meets a woman, Irene, who deals in heavy firepower. She hires Conrad as a troubleshooter; however, sparks fly when their personalities clash. Warner balances brutality with witty dialogue, giving Conrad a sly sense of humor that is usually not seen with dark, gun-toting characters.
