Captain Thunder and Blue Bolt

    (Hero, 1987-1988)
™ and ©1987 Roy and Dann Thomas

Sixteen-year-old Paul Fremont undertook a journey to find the father who abandoned him and his mother twelve years ago. Known to the world as Captain Thunder, his father could fly and fire blasts of electrical energy from his hands. Then there was a scandal and Captain Thunder found himself in contempt of Congress. Rather than bring disgrace and exposure to his family, Mike Fremont fled to solitary isolation on the top of Walakima Peak where his powers had originated years before. After a reunion that is something less than a Hallmark moment, Paul found himself trapped in the same abandoned copper mine where it all began for his father. Incredibly, Paul became imbued with the same powers as his father, paving the way for the debut of Blue Bolt.

The precise cause of their powers and the nature of the scandal that drove Mike Fremont into hiding are just two of the mysteries creators Roy and Dann Thomas employ to entice readers.
