Absolutely stunning. With crossovers teaming characters from different companies all the rage in 1996, most, predictably, were little more than beat-em-ups, and with two of the more violent types in their respective universes paired one couldn’t have expected anything more. Step forward then, Aron Wiesenfeld and Richard Bennett. They’ve obviously studied Geof Darrow, but that doesn’t make the detailed art and clean line any easier, and it’s all the more gorgeous for the subtle pastel tones used by colorist Monica Bennett. Weisenfeld also writes, and provides an intriguing connection between Deathblow and Wolverine, found in San Francisco’s Chinatown in 1982. It’s a simple story well told, but it’s the art that this pairing will be remembered for. ~FP
