Startling Comics

    (Avalon, 1999)
™ and ©1999 Roger Broughton

It’s the future, and the hero Nemesis—who also happens to be a ghost—is gazing at the Earth through a powerful telescope with the Grim Reaper. To his horror, he discovers that the Nazis won World War II, and march unfettered across the globe. Given that all ghosts have the supernatural power to go back in time, it’s not difficult for Nemesis to find out what went wrong, and how to reverse it. Sound fantastic? It is, and it’s just a sample of the kind of wild (indeed, startling!) tales that are common in this imaginative series.

But that’s not all—just as there was a “Superboy,” there’s also a boy Nemesis, known as the Crash Kid. And his incredible adventures appear as backup stories in these comics. Collected and reprinted in black-and-white by ACG Comics, a publisher apparently determined not to let past comic tales die out completely.
