Searching for his AWOL dad, Corey Rollins stumbles on a covert military operation and is kidnapped to a land in which humans have been hybridized with wild animals. In this neo-Island of Dr. Moreau, does this new transplant from the urban jungle have the street smarts to survive in a world where one literally fights tooth and nail?

Shadow-men attack FBI agents Hawkes and Mina Wing, who are then saved by Corey and his new friend, the fine feline female Sareena. The hermit Parkhurst explains the origin of these “chimera.” Bred by the nefarious honcho Corbel to be a valuable commodity for the international military marketplace, these assassins have escaped to terrorize the island. As Sareena leads an alliance of animals to assault the enemy’s base in the Central Mountain, will Corey’s father ever emerge from the shadows himself?

The new line of Rocket Comics is full of alienated youth who battle equally aggressive aliens. Drawn in a graffiti tagging style by Todd Demong, the tale by Brian Augustyn is a fantastic nightmare with a meandering map that leads to further mayhem and mauling. As Corey jumps through the plot hoops to reach his long-lost pop, readers may be, likewise, confused. But now that the boy has found his way, things are looking up for those who are following his trail.
