Atlas

 ATL6   (Dark Horse, 1994)

Bruce Zick’s 1994 Atlas mini-series spins a story of ancient gods come to modern day Earth, reminiscent of countless Jack Kirby epics. In Zick’s version, the Pantheon of true gods has decided that Earth has strayed too far from the path of worship. As a result, they prepared to return Earth to a primitive state, so that it might be “corrected.” Fortunately, the elder titan Enr, now called Atlas, stole the all-powerful artifact known as Goldenrod and used it to build a barrier protecting Earth from the Pantheon.

Now, Atlas is trapped on Earth while the elder gods try to find a way to destroy it. Caught in the middle, mankind is more than just a little confused. Earth finally has someone to watch over it, but without some help from the local residents, it’s only a matter of time before the gods will find a way to destroy both Atlas and the world as we know it.
