A B. Krigstein Sampler
™ and © Independent
Bernie Krigstein was one of E.C. Comics’ most heralded artists in the ‘50s; his gritty penciling and inventive layouts became highly influential in underground circles, helping comic books to be looked upon as an art form. B. Krigstein Sampler collects some of Krigstein’s post-E.C. work from 1956-57. While not as revolutionary as his creative peaks with E.C., the book offers glimpses of Krigstein’s genius, especially when he fills pages with numerous small panels that show a character’s movement or express a dramatic shift in their emotions.
