The Black Enchantress

The title character debuted in 1986 as the principal villain in a Champions super-hero RPG module called “The Coriolis Effect.” Heroic Publishing included the character in the Champions comic book derived from the game, and she also appeared in various issues of the Heroic series, Flare, as well.
Andrea Avery–Crusoe was born in the Louisiana bayou and makes her headquarters there in a forbidden cave. The locals hate and fear her as a witch, but Andrea capably defends herself by invoking magical control over earth, wind, fire, and water. Andrea blends her youthful exuberance with a violent, amoral streak resulting from the vacuum left by absent parents.
Andrea wants to find her parents—the great magician Doctor Arcane and the extra–dimensional sorceress Ch’andarra—but other matters intervene, and she doesn’t seem mind very much, especially when she gets to use her powers to smash and destroy. The Black Enchantress is equal parts fantasy, horror, and melodrama.
