Barbie and Ken

 BAAK   (Dell, 1962-1964)

™ and © Dell Publishing Co.

Mattel toys created the first Barbie doll in 1959 and caused an immediate sensation. Though criticized since for her disproportionate proportions, Barbie was hailed as the first toy doll that was not in the form of a baby. Barbie’s boyfriend Ken joined a couple of years later, and soon this series of comic books were issued. This series was nowhere near as popular as the Barbie and Barbie Fashion series released by Marvel in the 90s and the five issues here are quite rare as a result.
